RACING PATHWAY

PROGRESSIVE BMX RACING DEVELOPMENT

Luke Mendes

BMX race meetings are action packed fun days for all the family. Club racing is available from age 4+ The day's racing action begins with qualifying races, called ‘motos’.

Up to eight riders contest each moto and each rider has 3 races to try and earn a spot in the knockout rounds where the top 4 progress until the final that decides the overall winner.

Races usually last under a minute and are run in quick succession, making an exciting non-stop day for riders and spectators alike. Club racing is the perfect opportunity for beginners to get started in BMX racing. The standard of competition is lower and the feel of the events is more relaxed.

Experienced  club members will be on on hand to help you navigate through your first races and you'll find you quickly gain in confidence.

REGIONAL RACING

COMPETITIVE SUMMER BMX RACE SERIES

BMX racing in the UK is divided into regional leagues of neighbouring clubs. The regional leagues organise a summer series of races where riders score points in each round for an overall series ranking.

The winner of the series gets to ride the coveted #1 plate in the series the following season.

Within the series there is also a club competition where riders score points for their club.

Regional series are the way that riders qualify for the annual British Championships at which they will represent their region.

Regional races draw from a wider pool of riders so the standard and number of participants will be higher than club races.
